Switch Networks are a leading installer of broadband to businesses in York and the surrounding Yorkshire areas. There are many different options for business broadband including ADSL, FTTC and FTTP. Choosing the right connection depends on the type of business, number of users and broadband availability in your area. The recent changes to the way most people work means that VoIP technology and cloud services have increased internet usage for most businesses.
Our business ADSL broadband connection is a great option for those who are looking for a low cost broadband with standard download speeds. For instance, a shop, salon or high street business would be ok to run on a simple ADSL broadband connection. If you are offering wi-fi to your clients however, then an unlimited fibre connection would be better suited.
Switch Networks have access to nationwide networks so we can check in an instant to see exactly what products are available in your area.

ADSL is the most basic broadband service and is the slowest and cheapest service available. It runs on the old copper network and is ideally suited to low internet users. For instance, a shop, Hair salon or high street business would be ok to run on a simple ADSL broadband connection for their card machines. If they wanted to offer Wi-Fi to clients however, then an unlimited fibre connection would be better suited.
FTTC broadband is the most common internet for small to medium businesses although city centres often do not have fibre available because of the disruption needed to install the infrastructure.
Fibre optic cable allows data to be carried much faster than traditional copper wires that ADSL broadband would run on. The ‘cabinet’ means fibre optic cables are run to a cabinet on the street. The internet is then sent the short distance to the property via a copper cable, the longer the distance from the ‘cabinet’ the lower the bandwidth.
Fibre to the ‘premises’ (FTTP) means the fibre optic cable runs directly to the premises giving even higher speeds than FTTC.
